Reality Hits Home

Looks like the U.S. infrantryman whose blog I've mentioned before has been injured while serving in Iraq. I don't have any details; what little I do know I found by googling around. Both of his blogs are down, as is his sergeant's; whether this is due to his wounding or a clampdown by the military, I don't know. Here's hoping he has a speedy recovery.

I also understand their unit suffered a KIA the other week. This is real, folks.

I found another good milblog today called American Soldier.

New edit, 7-18-05: Apparently the aforementioned milblogger was actually not wounded, and has taken his blogs down temporarily (I surmise this may have been due to pressure from the military). Sorry for the confusion, but some of the comments posted on Doc in a Box led me to believe that he had been wounded.

I think I've mentioned the military's wariness of its soldiers' blogging their experiences while on deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is due to a number of family members finding out through these blogs about their loved ones being injured or killed before the military can notify them. Not to mention the security risks inherent in our soldiers maintaining such open communications with the outside world. It's basically a control issue, and the military is going to win that one every time.

No he's not down but one of is buddies did go down. One of his posts was rather strong worded and he took both of his blogs down.
