Bad News for Cancer Patients

The Supreme Court has ruled against allowing the use of medical marijuana, which is bad news for those who use the drug for legitimate reasons. It's ironic that the conservatives who normally are against federal law overriding state laws would be shouting with glee over this decision, which overrules ten states' laws allowing medical marijuana.

Part of the problem is that there would always be a concern that someone would abuse a law allowing medical marijuana by using the system to obtain the drug for recreational purposes rather than medical reasons. Got news for ya, there's always going to be someone who abuses the system in some way. But does this mean we should not provide this drug to cancer patients who can benefit from it? If it will ease their pain, why not?

And just because some people abuse welfare, does this mean we should not provide welfare for those who need it?
