This is Your War No More

Too bad. I guess it was a matter of time till the powers that be clamped down on the scores of milblogs being maintained by our soldiers in Iraq. Apparently there have been cases of family members finding out about loved ones being wounded or killed by reading these blogs before being officially notified. And soldiers giving the unvarnished truth about this war is a potential PR nightmare that the military wants to avoid.

I found all this out on the milblog (This Is Your War) that I've been following recently:
I could keep going but under these circumstances it would be a lie. I have already had to change this because I knew others in my Chain of Command were reading my words and thoughts. I was already being untrue to my original intention of telling the truth as I see it, of telling one Soldier's story in this war. My story.
End of story, for now.

Our Growing Family

It looks like we are adopting all four of the feral kittens we found in our back yard last month. We just can't seem to find a good home that will take in both Blackie and Tiger. Mel and I can't bring ourselves to give just one away without the other, especially considering how wild Blackie is. She actually has opened up quite a bit in the past week, but may always remain a little standoffish at times.

So, we now have six cats in our home. I never thought I'd wind up as one of those weird people who has a menagerie in their home, but there you have it! They do bring a lot of joy to us, though. And I'm happy to report that neither Mikey nor Steve has hissed at them lately and both of them seem to be accepting the girls now.

This is the girls' favorite chair:

Some cute kittens!
