The National Public Radio news anchor was so excited I thought she'd piss on herself: the President of the United States had flown his plane down to 1700 feet to get a better look at the flood damage! And there was a photo of our Commander-in-Chief taken looking out the window. He looked very serious and concerned.

That was yesterday. Today he played golf. No kidding.

Commenting on This Blog

I'm going to take a chance and hope that my ex-fiancee has stopped attempting to post vicious comments on this blog and open the blog up to commenting by anyone, regardless of whether or not they're Blogger users or not. So please, comment away...

Update 9/24/05:

Okay, in the less than 24 hours since I opened commenting to everyone, regardless of membership status, I have had no less than seven spam comments appear (these have been removed). These comments are probably auto-generated by some sort of spambot and typically say something like, "I really like your blog! Come check out mine at viagraboners.com" (or the like).

Sigh. Comment spam is a growing problem in blogdom, and I will not tolerate it here. So, I have (yet again) switched commenting to Blogger users only in the hopes of nipping it in the bud. If you would like to comment, but are not a registered Blogger member, please take a minute to join Blogger first. It's free and they will not sell off your email address. If you have something to say in response to one of my posts, I really would like to hear from you!

Another phenomenon I've noticed is the tactic some bloggers employ of leaving generic comments on other people's blogs—without having actually read the blogs in the first place. These comments typically say nothing that addresses the blog post upon which they appear (a dead giveaway) and of course contain a return link to the commenter's own blog. These pointless comments are left in the hopes of getting you to visit the commenter's own blog; I've had a number of comments like that here. Ho hum.
